As the Regional Solutions Director for Jacobs drinking water and water reuse team in Asia Pacific I lead future thinking in water. My recent work includes co-authorship of the Hydrogen Economy white paper (May 2019) which unlocked brand new and deeper insights into the future role of water and water utilities in a decarbonised future. I have also helped establish Jacobs as a new force in the the emerging application of artificial intelligence and machine learning in the water industry. This includes the appointment of a technical director for predictive analytics, establishment of AI ML in the digital solutions team, and helped establish a team that has delivered some 15 AL ML related water projects to date including world-class and first work with predictive models for water treatment process automation and optimisation. Our drinking water and reuse team is very much challenging today and reinventing tomorrow.

My experience covers strategic planning and designing water supply and treatment systems, sewerage and wastewater treatment systems, transfer pipelines, pipework and pumping stations. I have been a regional technology manager and director for some 10 years. I have over 30 years of experience in water and wastewater engineering. My projects and clients range from Australia to South-East Asia and the sub-continent India. In Australia, I’ve managed and designed a broad range of private and public sector water projects.

Most recently I was the Technical Leader for the Delhi India government’s Coronation Pillar Indirect Drinking Water Reuse project. From 2000 to 2003 I was the study Manager for the Singapore government’s NEWater Study. Here I oversaw and coordinated a sophisticated set of chemical and microbial risk assessments, chronic health effects studies, and performance evaluation studies for advanced water reuse. This work included MS2 bacteriophage challenge testing of the microfiltration, reverse osmosis and UV disinfection process units on two occasions. I also led the highly talented team of creatives and designers behind the visitor experience, static and multimedia exhibits for the highly acclaimed and successful NEWater Visitor Centre.
