About The Event
This workshop would be beneficial for training and development of all unit pricing staff. In addition it will promote awareness of the risks and potential complexities of unit pricing for staff at all levels in other areas of the organisation, particularly for staff within Risk and Compliance functions.

  3. Unit Pricing controls, the third building block
  4. Unit Pricing monitoring – the fourth building block
  5. Unit Pricing reporting – the fifth and final building block
  • The politicians’ announcements re changes to super and the potential impact on unit pricing
  • Tax benefits on transition to pension phase – the potential impact on unit pricing

Kyle Ringrose Kyle retired from full-time work in 2015 after a long career in
financial services in London, Sydney and Brisbane.

He currently spends much of his time in retirement speaking at industry conferences, providing consulting services and holding workshops for major industry players.

Kyle is able to leverage his continued passion for the financial services industry with decades of firsthand experience at senior levels within major industry players.

He is able to combine an in-depth knowledge of the superannuation and investment management industry with an engaging and personable presentation style to ensure attendees are constantly focussed and engaged
throughout the day.

Workshop Timing: 9:00 am – 4:45 pm

This workshop takes the participants through the rationale and practical implementation of each stage of a robust unit pricing governance framework. Presentation slides are available as templates for attendees where they feel this may add value their own organisation.

We go through the what, why, how and who of each stage to give participants an appreciation of the unit pricing big picture as well as a deeper dive into key issues. We commence with the evolution of unit pricing since the mid-1980s and how governance has evolved over time. We review some of the objectives, strengths and weaknesses of the Guide to Good Practice We explore some major unit pricing issues, including arbitrage and tax provisioning. These sessions include real life examples of how things can and have gone badly wrong in the past and how such problems can be avoided going forward. Then we move on to provide templates, practical examples of and reasons for the implementation of a five step unit pricing governance framework i.e. principles, policies, controls, monitoring and reporting.

We later take a realistic look at the politicians’ recent proposals (a) to tax the investment earnings of pension assets and why this may
have a significant impact on unit pricing and (b) changes to the transition to retirement pension. The final session of the day provide an insight into the recent announcements from two super funds re crediting a bonus to members on transition to pension phase and how this may impact unit pricing.
