This highly acclaimedand insightful one-day workshop has been designed to familiarise attendees with the principals and concepts of finance within the investment industry. Much of the content is made relevant to participants by providing insights into thestrategies adopted by superannuation funds to manage the members’ investments. The workshop is designed for small groups (8-10) to enable a high level of interactive discussion and debate throughout the day.

The workshop is designed for small groups (8-10) to enable a high level of interactive discussion and debate throughout the day. On completion of the workshop, participants should be able to:

    • Demonstrate knowledge of investment markets including finance theories and practices
    • Explain basic financial instruments, including stock and bond markets and foreign exchange
    • Understand the nature and role of unlisted assets such as Real Estate. Private Equity and Infrastructure
    • Explain the concept of diversification, including the investment risk and return relationship
    • Understand arguments for and against active versus passive investment management
    • Understand the rationale and implications of investment management fees charged by fund managers and superannuation funds
    • Understand the concepts of hedge funds, short selling and securities lending
    • Demonstrate an understanding of the tax implications of different investment strategies
    • Gain a better understanding of their personal investments in superannuation and elsewhere, including insights into the investment options offered by superannuation funds

Kyle retired from full-time work in 2015 after a long career in financial services. He currently spends much of his time in retirement speaking at industry conferences, providing consulting services and holding workshops for major industry players including superannuation funds, investment managers and custodians.

Kyle is able to leverage his continued passion for the financial services industry with decades of firsthand experience at senior levels within major industry players.

He is able to combine an in-depth knowledge of the superannuation and investment management industry with an engaging and personable presentation style to ensure attendees are constantly focussed and engaged throughout the day.
